LA Works in Cudahy, California
Nenetzin, Silver, Jeffrey, Shannon, Vy, and Tiffany (as seen on the left) in the Southern California region participated in La Works’ annual Day of Service. They went to Bell Gardens Elementary School to help landscape for a walkway garden, including weeding out the garden and mulching the area. The group finished the day off by helping build and paint kid-sized benches for the school.
River City Food Bank in Sacramento, California
JT and Kayla went to the River City Food Bank to serve. River City Food Bank is the only Sacramento-area food bank open every week day to anyone experiencing hunger in Sacramento County. They did everything from painting benches to sorting and packing food, along with serving people that came into the food bank that day.
Growing Grounds Farm in San Luis Obispo, California
Emily served at Growing Grounds Farm in San Luis Obipso. Growing Grounds is a nonprofit wholesale nursery and a program of Transitions-Mental Health Association dedicated to eliminating stigma and promoting recovery and wellness for people with mental illness through work, housing, community, and family support services. Emily helped pot plants, move plants to appropriate water stations, assemble landscaping orders, and sorted through recycled pots.
